Mangoes in Hilo
A lovely memory of my eating mangoes with new friends I made during my time au-pairing in Hawaii.
During this time, I was staying on the Big Island, in Kona. Hilo is on the other side of the island and this was on a day trip to Hilo. It was one of my favorite days in Hawaii.

De Bakker 'The Baker'
A cute cafe me and my friends liked to visit (it was mostly me dragging them there though) on Terschelling, (Dutch island in the Netherlands) when we were working on a campsite there. I loved the atmosphere of this lovely cafe combined with the island vibes.

Montmartre
A painting inspired by the plaza of painters in Paris, France; Montmartre. I loved the atmosphere and busyness here and captured that hectic feeling in this painting. I felt heavenly inspired by all the art being made here and knew I had to make a painting of this lovely place.

Deep Seas
A painting about one of my favorite places in Hawaii; the ocean. I spent as much time as possible in the ocean here. I love the creatures living in te sea and exploring new beaches. I really wanted to dedicate a painting to my love of the sea.

Huis 16A 'House 16A'
This house is a representation of my youth, growing up in a chaotic, messy household with a big family. When I was younger, I would mostly see the negative about this and wish my household looked like that of my peers. I didn't like to invite people to my home. However, I've more grown to appreciate all the warmth and love in my household. I'm very grateful of how supportive and loving my family is and am happy that I can see this more cleary now.
This loud painting made with goauche and acrylics is an ode to that.

In my notebook
During my time in a high school, I felt I was not able to express myself a lot. Lessons would be be boring to me and it was hard for me to keep my focus. So, I started drawing in my notebooks to help me listen better. (Something that was not always appreciated by teachers) After I graduated, I made this art piece. It’s a self portrait with paper cutouts as the background. The cut outs are all old sketches I made during my time in class in high school.
